At First United Methodist when we say “we have a heart for God” it describes the way we encounter God through worship and pursue Him through discipleship…with all our hearts!  We not only believe that the object of our worship is God, we also believe that worship is our heartfelt response to the love of God.  We believe that the purpose of our discipleship and spiritual growth ministry at First UMC is to develop and nurture within individuals a heart of love for God.  Further, we believe that as they develop a heart of love for God they will also develop a heart of love for those people and things God loves…one of which is our City.
